Topsy's Progress Report
What can my baby do ( at nearly nine months old), I hear you all ask with bated breath? OK, let's see. He now responds when I say clap hands. First he pats his leg and looks hopefully at me to see if that is the right response. I clap my own hands encouragingly, and then he remembers and claps slightly unfurled fists. Such a clever boy. Topsy navigates the whole house quite easily and with speed, seeking out all the most dangerous things to play with of course. MaybeADiva mopped the floor the other day and left the bucket full in the pantry (unbeknownst to me) . Unbeknownst that is, until I found my baby slipping and sliding blissfully around the kitchen floor in the the soapy suds ,with the bucket upended beside him!! Topsy can stand steadily holding onto the couch or other grounding object with only one hand. If I say 'jump', he starts to bounce up and down obligingly. He loves Colin Buchanen and will gaze unblinking for the entire DVD (he even smiles at some of the funny bits!) And sometimes when I said cuddle, he lays his head on the nearest soft thing, and then I coo "Aww, cuddle". When he does it, he also says "duhduh', which I choose to believe means 'cuddle'!

Aww cuddle!

Double click on this bad shot and you might just glimpse Topsy's two teeth!

This is meant to be a three picture action shot of Topsy clapping with a dinosaur in hand.

DREADED SCHOOL AGAIN!!

Actually it all went quite smoothly. MaybeADiva has the teacher she wanted: Miss Buchanen (who taught Spindles in Year 2) and has some good friends in there with her; Spindles has Miss Fenner ( who had Roly (RollerCoaster) last year) ; and Roly appears to have two homeroom teachers (he'll keep them both busy, I'm sure) I helped settle Roly first since he is starting middle school. Spindles, returning to Stage 2 wanted no settling, and then I left Diva with some lovely friends.

Keep an eye out for a photo of Topsy's two teeth. I am trying to catch them unawares. Honestly it's like being a National Geographic photographer staking out Loch Ness.

The Dribbly Nosed Face Only a Mother
Could Love
This is an unabashed attempt to gain sympathy from the grandparents. Poor ickle Topsypoo gots hisself a coldy woldy. And a dwippy nosey noo as well. (please realize that we never EVER talk to the poor child like this in real life!!! And I wipe the gunge off his nose all the time. We had to let it accumulate slightly to get the photos just right ,in the interest of procuring the right amount of sympathy. He suffered for the cause you might say. If you are not related to our little urchin and are not at all inclined to exert any compassion, it is OK, he has more than enough from us at home. In fact, when he recovers, Topsy may miss the quality of life having a cold gave him!:) )

Topsy's Cold

My poor baby has had a cold since Thursday night. He has been so miserable, mucus leaking out both nostrils and running a slight fever. This morning he woke up with green boogies, so I took him to Dr. Armano across the road. There's no infection, thank goodness, and in fact he really improved this afternoon. Iv'e noticed that being sick made him a lot more of a mummy's boy. If I was visible he'd just explore or play quietly, but as soon as I disappeared, he crawled pathetically around searching with sad whimpers. so clingy was he that today was my first trip to the loo withTopsy on my lap. I don't plan to repeat the experience!

SWORD FIGHT!!!
This is the first day the kids have seen hubby for about a week. So apparantly
a sword fight was needed to mark the occcasion.

MaybeADiva doesn't care if she is on the winning side or not, just as long as she is part of it

Hubby advances on the hapless boys.

It appears Diva does like to win. She will even be Dad's shield so long as she is on his team.

A blur of action. Who will come up trumps?

Us of course!

OK Dad, you can put me down now.

Whoopsy!!! Spindles was sideways! Sorry Spin! I have now worked out the rotation thingamy, and MaybeA Diva will be standing up. We have moved Topsy out of his room into Diva's, leaving a room spare. This is now the rumpus room and several boxes of play stuff has been moved in there. The dress up box is getting a real workout at the moment, probably because everything is in a box together, and easy to find. Diva paired her PJ top with two tutus from her toddler days and my only set of high heels. She has a slightly grumpy look because her brother only wanted to be photographed on his own.

Roly (Roller Coaster) is ten. He is larger than life, a really big personality. He gets us into all sorts of interesting situations because he is so friendly to all and sundry.

Nine year old Spindles is our strategic thinker with a quick wit. Having shared several meals with him this holidays, his grandparents would also probably add that Spindles takes an excruciatingly long time to eat anything.

MaybeADiva at six is the only girl and sometimes she finds this challenging as she is a very girly girl. In the last two years she has really learnt to hold her own with her brothers. Crafty and compassionate.

Topsy is such a cute little man. This pic catches his mischevous smile. At eight and a half months he is quite placid, very cuddly. He adapts quickly to whatever situation is thrown at him.

Here are the kids. They are a great bunch, so different in personality each one. Mom took this photo in their backyard in Sydney these holidays.

Cousin Reunion
During the last week of January and of the school holidays, we spent two days visiting Dear Sis, hubby and their two precious daughters. The cousins loved catching up and getting up to no good together (the girls even found time to have a couple of bust ups!!) The kids all adore doing things together.
